Acupuncture

What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the body at specific points to improve some aspect of one’s health. The insertion of needles into specific anatomical points to help stimulate the release of endorphins which are the body’s natural pain relieving neurohormones. Our Physiotherapists and Chiropractors integrate Acupuncture with their other techniques to treat conditions like joint stiffness, weakness of any kind, postural dysfunction and muscle imbalances.

Acupuncture

How does it work?

Acupuncture targets points in the body where nerves, muscles and connective tissues can be stimulated to help aid in healing, or aid in strengthening weaknesses in the muscle tissues to reduce muscle imbalances. The stimulation within the body helps create proper blood flow, as well as triggering the body's natural pain killer.

What to expect...

We will ask about your health history, as well as perform physical assessments depending on your needs. With our treatment plan in place we will be able to create a proper plan for your body and your physical condition. Many people feel little to minimal discomfort as the needs are gently placed. The needles are generally placed on the body between five to 30 minutes. We do our very best to ensure open communication and understanding between therapist and patient by creating a relaxing, healing experience.

Who is it for?

Acupuncture can help those with chronic pain, sports injuries, work injuries, etc. Many times acupuncture is recommended as a complementary treatment method in addition to other pain management techniques we offer. We will assess your physical health and physical pains and create the right plan for you and your health.
