Allan Hewick
Registered Physiotherapist
Allan’s interest in exercise physiology was sparked while training for competitive white water kayak slalom as a teenager. He then pursued this passion academically with a degree in Physical Education (Exercise Physiology) at McMaster University. This was fine-tuned further when he remained for another degree in Physiotherapy, focusing on the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions and sports injuries. Postgraduate training includes formal acupuncture certification, many orthopaedic manual therapy courses, concussion rehab, Vestibular therapy, and specialized exercise program design.
Each of these clinical tools were upgraded and combined with advanced diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills in 2024 when he attended Western University to earn a Master of Clinical Science degree (Advanced Health Care Practice with Comprehensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy specialization). This included a Fellowship with the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) which is the highest level of training awarded to Physiotherapists in Orthopedic Manual Therapy.
Equally important are the skills of listening, communicating and relating in a way that enlightens and empowers his clients to be better CEOs of their own health. Allan’s hobbies include hiking, mountain biking, renovating, kayaking, tennis and practically anything outdoors. No matter your job or hobby or sport, chances are that he has either worked as, played alongside, or treated someone in your situation.
His clinical practice involves the integration of manual therapy, exercise, acupuncture and education for movement disorders of all types and patient demographics. Treatment of dysfunctions and pain of the spine, jaw, shoulder and upper limb as well as those involving paddle and racquet sports are of special interest.
After over 30 years, helping each new client is still an intriguing and rewarding challenge, whether your goals are sitting without pain, gardening or playing a sport at an elite level.
